During all of the Cold War years, there was an area of West Germany called the Fulda Gap. Located near the town of Fulda, it was the zone where any Soviet attack on West Germany would probably take place.
Today, there is a new gap in Fulda. It is a gap in the Afghan community of the town after a young Afghani was shot and killed by police while attacking a bakery shop. He managed to injure several people before the threat was ended.
