Tariq Ramadan Remains in Custody in France

Swiss philosopher Tariq Ramadan, who is the grandson of the founder of the Muslim Brotherhood, Hassan al Banna, is in custody in France charged with sexually assaulting two women. There was a protest in Paris this week by a group of Ramadan's supporters demanding his release. Gates of Vienna has the background to the story as well as a short video of the protest. Translation into English is by Ava Lon and  sub-titling by Vlad Tepes.

There is an interesting dynamic going on here. You have an internationally known Muslim leader, whom many consider a peaceful reformer and whom others consider a phony moderate, charged with sexual assault-a hot button topic these days all over the world. Sadly, all too many Western feminists refuse to discuss the treatment of Muslim women because they prefer to stand in solidarity with their "oppressed" Muslim brothers and sisters. To raise the issue of how Muslim women are mistreated would be politically incorrect.

I have no opinion on Ramadan's guilt or innocence. I only want to see the truth come out and justice be served.
