Barbra Streisand and Hillary

"Memories......."

Barbra Streisand was a great singer, but that's as far as it went. Now, at 75, she is trying to fit some of her old songs into some kind of silly narrative as to how wonderful things would have been if Hillary Clinton were president. So it was when she introduced Hillary at her (Streisand's) concert in Brooklyn.

If I may choose a few choice excerpts.

"She also introduced Hillary Clinton as “the winner of our country’s popular vote.”

Here is your award for that, Hillary.

"Streisand, who recently turned 75, was doing two dates in the New York City area, calling it a mini-tour. She hinted it could be her last."

Oh, yet another farewell tour, eh?

"Ah wunnerful, ah wunnerful, ah"

"Taking another shot at Trump and his tweeting habits, she quipped: “Usually when a man that age is up at 4 a.m., he forgot to take his Flomax,” referring to a medication to treat the prostate."

Or having phone sex with an intern.

"She later talked about hearing a recent interview by Hillary Clinton and said it “makes us yearn for what could have been, what should have been. I was thrilled to hear yourself describe yourself as an activist citizen and part of the resistance.”

Yes, we could have had a corrupt family back in the White House, another Benghazi, Huma Abedin, and emails flying off into the hands of the Russians, Iranians and ISIS with no classified controls whatsoever. Part of the resistance? What is she going to put on a mask and join ANTIFA? Hardly. Her activism is going to consist of writing books and collecting 6-figure speaking fees.

Barbra Streisand and Hillary Clinton deserve each other. For both of them, it's over. I am reminded that there is a lid for every pot.

But let us close with a musical "tribute" to Babs, which I think is fitting to the occasion.

  1. Hillary Clinton part of the resistance? Her and Marshall Petain. Streisand is senile... or she's been living on a substantial fortune for many decades.

  2. Remember the classic MAD Magazine parody, "On A Clear Day You Can See A Funny Girl Singing Hello Dolly Forever."

  3. Maybe you had stopped reading MAD by then. But it was back in the days when MAD was still "35 cents cheap." I won't buy it at the modern news stand price. Oh, the special issues with a bunch of neat stickers was 60 cents. There was one that said "This City Is Out of Order." My mother asked me if she could have that one.
