Obama in Argentina: "My Plate is Full"
Behold the glorious baby bife of Argentina
President Obama wasn't kidding when he told the press in Argentina that "his plate was full' in explaining why he wasn't paying more attention to the ISIS attack in Belgium.
I well recall my trip to Buenos Aires in 1985. I was stationed in Italy with DEA at that time and traveled on a case to the Argentine capital. It was then that I was introduced to the wonders of Argentine steaks, baby bife, bife de chorizo, bife de lomo etc. We're talking steaks that are so big they cover the plate, so thick, and yet you can cut them with a fork. We're talking steaks that make our porterhouses look like dog scraps. And, oh yeah-they are the best tasting in the world too. And you think Obama was going to cut short his trip and miss all that because of some silly little terror attack by the JV team?
To quote the president himself, "My plate is full." And how!
Obama's plate was not full enough to get in a historic Tango, which will definitely be a major part of his legacy. It was bad enough that he met with the communist/thug/killer Raul Castro in a photo op with the communist/thug/killer Che mural in the background. I am too angry about the possibility that Cuba held and tortured American POWs from the Vietnam era to address it here.

There is no reason whatsoever that a president on a long-planned diplomatic mission should suddenly fly back to Washington because a bomb went off in Belgium. None. He is in constant communication with his staff no matter where he is, and there isn't a hell of a lot we can do about a bomb having gone off in Belgium, except to make perfunctory statements of solidarity, redundantly tell the relevant security agencies to keep working on it, and send a bit of money.
ReplyDelete(Seriously Gary, if there were a huge shootout between rival drug gangs in Europe, would you have appreciated an executive order from the president telling you that its important to get more intelligence on these gangs and take them down? Isn't that what you were doing already?
