Islamophobia No-Anti-Semitism Si

Corinne Blackmer, a professor at Southern Connecticut State University writes in Minding the Campus that campuses are placing great weight on countering Islamophobia while downplaying anti-Semitism.

As I commented in the reader thread, what is missing here is an acknowledgement that the greatest practitioners of anti-Semitism on campus tend to be the same people who complain about anti-Semitism.

I would also argue with Blackmer that Islamophobia is not based on ignorance of Islam. Hatred of Muslims in general could be based on ignorance. On the other hand, the leading voices against Islam as an ideology that is antithetical to Western values of freedom, equality and democracy are people who have studied Islam in great depth.
