South Carolina House Passes Bill to Ban Sharia Law

Hat tip Creeping Sharia

The South Carolina House has passed a bill to ban sharia (and other) law from being recognized in state law. The bill must now pass the State Senate and be signed by Governor Nikki Haley.

I look forward to more and more states passing similar laws. Previous efforts have shown that the key is to preclude all outside legal forces from entering into US law federal and state laws.

  1. What an exercise in absurdity. Did they also pass one to "ban" Natural Law?

  2. Sharia law is unconstitutional, as it promotes totalitarian, theocratic dictates. Freedom of religion, freedom of speech, equal rights for woman, gays, marriage laws, horrific punishment (justified murder). The Isalmic doctrinal texts are higher law than the Constitution.
This is why Sharia must be banned in America. South Carolina is right. Additionally, this Bill is not absurd.

  3. Squid, you poor little child... in order for "Sharia law" to be effective in South Carolina, the legislature of the state would have to ENACT it via statute! (And of course any and every provision that would violate the constitution of the republic would be ruled null and void by the courts. Isn't judicial review wonderful?) But how many SC legislators are prepared to enact one provision of any version of "Sharia law" into the state code? No, all they do is vote to "ban" things they don't rightly understand and would never vote FOR.

Its an absurd bill because legislators are voting to ban something that could only be in effect if they voted to put it into effect, which they quite rightly are not going to do.

Of course there is no coherent definition of Sharia as a body of law anyway, just hundreds of schools of thought plus the versions concocted by people who want to use it as a straw man who don't believe in it at all.
