Fousesquawk Travel Destinations: Pakistan

Flag of Pakistan With National Bird

Are you tired of the same old-same old tourist places for vacation? Want to find someplace reeeaaallly off the beaten path?

Consider Pakistan.

Don't laugh. Here is why.

From the ancient ruins of Lahore to the modern ruins of Islamabad, you will find lots of adventure in Pakistan. In fact, you will think you are in the middle of an Indiana Jones movie when you visit Pakistan.

And the history! In Abotta-botta-bingabad, you can visit the site where Usama bin Laden's last residence once stood. The house was demolished a few years ago, but the lot where it stood has been perfectly preserved by the Pakistani Tourist Bureau. You can't miss it; it's right down the street from the national military academy!

And there is no shortage of culture! If you are lucky enough to be there during the right time of the week, you can experience one of the country's oldest cultural traditions-the flag burnings.

Pakistan also has a rich sporting tradition. Unlike most countries, where everybody is playing soccer, Pakistan's national sport is embassy sacking. Hours of fun and non-stop action.

And for all you gourmets out there, the Pakistani cuisine will really give you something to write home about. Believe you me, the Delhi Belly is nothing compared to the Karachi Krud.

But what I really recommend is getting out of the (really) crowded cities and visiting the eastern provinces where Pakistani and Afghani cultures blend together.
