Russia and France Lead the Way

Russia and France are pounding the ISIS stronghold of Raqqa in Syria today. The Russians have confirmed that ISIS planted a bomb on the Russian airliner that crashed in Egypt.

In addition, there are reports that France is invoking NATO Article 5 asking all member nations to support their military efforts. The French are asking the Russian and Americans to lead the way in crushing ISIS. That puts President Obama squarely on the spot. His status quo approach is unacceptable and even his own party is starting to realize it.

You can bet that the Russians will not hold back in bombing Raqqa. They will accept the collateral damage.

Meanwhile a soccer match between Germany and the Netherlands in Hannover, Germany has been cancelled due to a credible report that a bombing was planned. (France and England are playing today in the UK.)

The war on terror is entering a critical new stage. If the Russians are truly on board, this is a huge development. We cannot depend on the Arab world to defeat ISIS through their military participation is welcomed. NATO must take the lead. If Russia is in, that is great with me.

  1. The French police continue to flush out the Jihadist rats in Paris, and it's refreshing to hear on French TV that Parisians (interviewed on the street) prefer that the terrorists are killed, opposed to being arrested and jailed.
My guess is that a tipping point has been reached, and Europe has begun to defend itself. Two more terrorists killed in Paris today - excellent. There is a lot more to clean up in Europe, and I hope the current mood leads to more raids and arrests.
On another note, let's hope that President Hillary Clinton shows some backbone on the Syrian refugee issue.
