The CNBC Debate: The Media Protects Its Own

Full disclosure: I did not watch the Republican debate this week on CNBC in its entirety. I was watching the World Series and switched over during commercials. However, from what I did see and have seen since, I am appalled at the conduct of the moderators. They were not trying to run a debate on the issues; they were trying to rip each candidate. They even got into arguments with them over their responses. It was unprofessional and showed the nation the unquestioned bias of the mainstream media.

Yet, CNN and MSNBC predictably, came to the defense of the moderators and attacked the candidates for fighting back. Ditto the Washington Post, whose columnist, Philip Bump, wrote this attack on the GOP.

"The role of the media is, in part, to hold people in positions of power accountable."

Sure. At least when those in power are Republicans. When it comes to both Clintons and Obama, they have failed miserably in that regard. That's why Marco Rubio was spot on when he called the mainstream media the Democrats ultra superpac.

  1. Worse than the CNN one, and that was bad enough. Shades of Candy Crowley (??--I believe it was her) and Obama.

  2. Dos ve donya comrades,

The Washington Post will soon be changing it's name to Provda. This week, the WP stated in an article that Hillary never said that the Benghazi attack was caused by a video.

  3. In my view. worse than the CNN debate, and that is saying a lot. Not totally unlike, at least in principle (or unprinciple??), when Candy Crowley (I believe it was her), as a moderator, tried to bail out Obama in a 2008 debate.

  4. The entire Republican field would be a circus, except that it is neither funny nor entertaining. And now, the entire Republican field will walk a tightrope six inches off the ground, WITHOUT A NET! The moderators are just part of the circus, and no funnier than the candidates.
