We all knew this was inevitable. No matter how many deadlines came and went. No matter how many extensions were granted. No matter the demonstrations in Iranian cities chanting, "Death to America" and "Death to Israel". We knew that a deal would be reached.
One almost wants to throw up listening to Obama tell us how they have ensured that Iran will never get a nuclear weapon-now or ever. He talked about verification, which, after you read the details on the supposed inspections, makes you laugh.
Below from the Washington Post is the text of Obama's announcement.
http://www.washingtonpost.com/news/powerpost/wp/2015/07/14/obama-announces-iran-deal/
"Today, because America negotiated from a position of strength and principle, we have stopped the spread of nuclear weapons in this region."
-Obama
"Inspectors will have 24/7 access to Iran’s key nuclear facilities."
-Obama
Right. That's what MSNBC's blowhard Ed Schultz echoed today on The Ed Show-just to add a touch
of comedy to this sad chapter in American history.
"Unfettered and daily" access , he called it.Well, not quite. Section Q of the deal talks about that, as National Review discloses.

So once we find or suspect that Iran is cheating-heavens to Betsy- we ask for access, they object, and the whole process goes back into action. No doubt, John Kerry will fly back to Europe to meet the Iranian foreign minister and negotiations begin anew with more deadlines and more delays ad finitum.
And don't forget that $100 billion in unfrozen assets Iran will shortly collect. That will finance a lot of terror operations around the world.
And the four Americans being held in Iran on trumped-up charges of espionage? Well, you never know about secret protocols, but according to Kerry himself, they were not even part of the negotiations. I hope I am wrong, but I suspect he was telling the truth.
No one seems to remember: From Audacity of Hope written by Barack Obama, on page 261 in the paperback edition:
ReplyDelete“I will stand with the Muslims should the political winds shift in an ugly direction”
He did not say he would stand with the Americans, when our national security is at stake, or our allies.
Does this help with an answer to many questions about this Iranian nuclear proliferation deal!
Squid
Since we don't have the capacity -- and neither does Israel -- to militarily vanquish Iran, this is a good deal, accomplished with the tools available to get a resolution that is of modest benefit. The days of gunboat diplomacy are over, and everyone who might benefit is not a Good Guy. That's life.
ReplyDeleteSiarlys,
ReplyDeleteI too recall he said it somewhere. And we do have the military capacity to defeat Iran. Whether we have the will or not is another matter.
@ Siarlys
ReplyDeleteSiarlys, what part of Obama's name Hussain, born to a Muslim father, raised by a Muslim step-father, going to an Islamic school for his early years in Indonesia, giving his first speech in Cairo and inviting the outlawed Muslim Brotherhood, denigrating America in front of them, inviting the Muslim Brotherhood to the White House numerous times, bringing the Muslim father of an American deserter to the White House lawn, assisting the Muslim Brotherhood Morsi to become President of Egypt, the Benghazi lie and the Iranian nuke enabling deal do you not understand?
Squid
Gary, last time I challenged Squid, I asked for a page number and exact citation. He gave me one. I looked it up. He was wrong. First time could be a mistake. This time, its a lie. Your "recollection" ... that's how reporters get into trouble saying things in print that they "recall" that they can't substantiate when a fact checker asks. (Its all in your own archives, look it up.)
ReplyDeleteSquid, now you're being both hysterical and paranoid. Born to a Muslim father... so what? Raised by a Muslim step-father... Indonesia is about as non-Wahabi as you can get, which is why the tiny little teenie-bopper groups that are trying to be jihadis are getting no traction among the largest Muslim nation in the world. And don't forget the man is a baptized Christian. The part about an "Islamic school" is a chimaera, it wasn't. I recall quite a few speeches he gave in places other than Cairo... unless you are talking about when Senator Durbin introduced him to an enthusiastic crowd in southern Illinois when Obama ran for the senate. "Denigrating America?" Details please -- you have no credibility on any question of fact. The rest is empty nonsense until the Iran deal ... which, as I've already stated, I fully support.
What is there about the difference between Sunni ISIS and Shia Iran that YOU don't understand?
