JStreet and its campus arm, JStreet U are crying in their beer because they were not invited to a closed door meeting this weekend in Las Vegas to discuss how to fight the BDS movement. (Boycott, Divest and Sanctions -against Israel). The meeting is being organized by Sheldon Adelson and Rabbi Shmuley Boteach.

Let me tell you why JStreet was not invited: They were not invited because they are not pro-Israel. Sure, they say they are pro-Israel, and they say they are anti-BDS. Yet, they support every pro-Palestinian point of view that comes down the pike. Note how they make reference to "the occupation" in their missive.
Contrary to what they say, what is the point of having students from JStreet U involved in their meeting when they are doing nothing to support Israel on campus? Their approach has been to to dialogue with the pro-Palestinian side. What has it accomplished even when they find pro-Palestinian students willing to dialogue with them?
JStreet and JStreet U are pro-Palestinian.
Frankly, I don't know if the Jewish Federation or Hillel were invited. If so, that would be a mistake in my view. On college campus after college campus, their position has been to stand down. Jewish students who want to fight anti-Semitism and stand up for Israel on campus are clamped down upon by these organizations and smeared. At least that is true at UC Irvine.
So let JSTreet sings the blues and trash the meeting they were not invited to. They have no credibility.
J Street should suck it up and take their exclusion as a compliment. If I were invited to anything by Sheldon Adelson, I would wonder what I'd done wrong.
