True Bigotry at Rutgers University

While Christians and gays are being hunted down and murdered across the Middle East and parts of Africa, Rutgers professor of gender studies Brittany Cooper is busy bashing white Christian conservatives for their opposition to gay marriage.

…This white, blond-haired, blue-eyed, gun-toting, Bible-quoting Jesus of the religious right is a god of their own making. I call this god, the god of white supremacy and patriarchy...
This God isn’t the God that I serve…He might be “biblical” but he’s also an asshole.

Bigotry?

  1. And Rutgers University has the audacity to call this scholarship. Young students should save their money and go to a less expensive community college to get, perhaps, a better deal for the money.

  2. "The Jesus I know…was a radical, freedom-loving, justice-seeking, potentially queer (because he was either asexual or a priest married to a prostitute)..."

What a dope!!! I guess I could stupidly hope that she is not typical of many (if not in fact most??) college professors today, Gary excepted.

I do not know, and could not possibly care less, whether Jesus was married, single, separated, divorced, "queer", straight, or asexual. However, it seems to me that if he was "queer", then he was hardly asexual (not the same thing at all). Similarly, if he was married to a prostitute, male or female, "queer" or straight, then again he was quite likely not asexual unless it was a "sham" marriage for whatever reason(s).

Looks to me like they are mutually exclusive, can't have it both ways, a good example of her intelligence (or lack thereof??) and faulty reasoning/logic.

BTW Gary, what is your take on the percentage of college professors of your acquaintance who come out of this general mold??

  3. Elwood,

Hard to say. In my section (ESL), I don't think many would agree with this idiot. In the humanities sections, it's anybody's guess, but then again, I don't have any friends in those depts. I would guess in the gender studies, most probably agree with Cooper. As far as I'm concerned, gender studies profs are all a bunch of nut cases.
