Creeping Sharia has posted a piece on LAPD Counter Terrorism Chief Michael Downing. In his position, Downing is very active in Muslim outreach and is, in my view, an apologist for people in his jurisdiction whom he should be investigating.
I met Downing in 2012 at the Islamic Center of Orange County where he participated in a panel promoting a positive version of sharia law, which he said was compatible with US law.

After the event, I told Downing that in 1992 the head imam of that mosque, Muzammil Siddiqi, had hosted the Blind Sheikh, Omar AbdelRahman, and had translated a sermon by the Blind Sheikh talking about violent jihad. Downing’s response? “Well, Gary, you know some people change over time.”
Michael Downing is downright dangerous in his blindness.
