Hat tips to Ted and Got News
I have stated my thoughts on the North Carolina murders very clearly and the below posting from Got News doesn't change those thoughts. However, there is a PR war raging over this, and it might do well to add this to the record. Got News is asking the question of whether victim Deah Barakat's views as reportedly expressed on Twitter may have been a factor in the dispute between him and the shooter Craig Hicks. I do not know the answer to that question.

The fact remains that this shooting cannot be justified based on what we know.
The same holds true in regards to the death of American citizen Kayla Mueller, who had been held captive by ISIS in Syria. We still don't know the circumstances of her death. It has been reported this week that Mueller had been active with the International Solidarity Movement, an insidious Palestinian creation that has drawn many young Westerners in their effort to delegitimize and ultimately destroy Israel. While I would be critical of that involvement, it is still a tragedy that the young woman fell victim to ISIS.
Someone posting really dumb stuff on Twitter does not deserve to be murdered.
ReplyDeleteCan someone explain the last picture and caption? I don't get it.
I don't quite understand the need to claim the murders were a hate crime. I am not defending Hicks. He deserves to spend the rest of his pitiful life behind bars. Based upon the evidence I've seen up to now, I don't see evidence supporting that the murder of the three innocent students was motivated by hatred towards Muslims.
Why do people need or want so badly to call this a hate crime? Maybe it was but I need more evidence. The default position seems to be, for many, that it was a hate crime and people seem really invested in that mindset.
Anonymous,
ReplyDeleteChick filet was at the center of a firestorm a couple of year back because the owner was against gay marriage or something like that.
I agree with what you said. There is a segment of society that is much invested in the idea that this had to be a hate crime.
