Rep. Elijah Cummings (D-MD) is accusing the Republicans of cherry-picking the information.
Really? Cherry pick this:
“I am beginning to wonder whether I should do [the hearing] and affirmatively use it to put a stake in politics and c4,” Miller told his chief of staff, Nikole Flax, in a June 2012 email obtained by the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform.
Miller ultimately testified at the July 25 hearing but never revealed his knowledge of the misconduct."
Obviously he made the wrong choice. He should have proudly said, yes, we are doing our job, doing it thoroughly, and we stand on our record.
ReplyDeleteThe IRS had every reason in the world to examine the Tea Party groups minutely before granting any kind of tax exempt status. All these groups could have indulged in free speech as much as they wanted -- the IRS can't prevent that. But they don't have an entitlement to give their donors a tax deduction for trying to influence the outcome of elections.
