IRS: Documents Show Collusion Between Lois Lerner and DOJ on Conservative Groups

IRS, DOJ and White House

"Yeah, we'll investigate it, won't we boys?"

More released documents are trickling out, and now we know Lois Lerner of IRS was working together with Eric Holder's DOJ to target conservative groups.

"DOJ’s Mr. Pilger admitted that DOJ officials met Ms. Lerner in October 2010. Moreover, according to congressional investigators, a Lerner email from October 5, 2010 shows the IRS sent the FBI and DOJ a “1.1 million page database of information from 501(c)(4) tax exempt organizations” that contained confidential taxpayer information."

That is a crime. You might assume that it would be natural for federal enforcement agencies to share information, and they do. However, the IRS is precluded from sharing confidential tax information even from other federal agencies except in certain restricted circumstances. I know this from past personal experience. When I was a DEA agent and previous to that a Customs agent, I had several occasions to work with IRS regarding the illicit funds made by drug traffickers. Nonetheless, I was not allowed to receive tax payer information from my IRS colleagues.

Our government under President Obama and Eric Holder has committed serious violations of the law. Unfortunately, the IRS, the DOJ and the White House all have each other's backs. Up to now, only the House committees, which are Republican-controlled are willing to try and get to the bottom of it. The Democrat-controlled Senate is unwilling to do anything. Look for that to change when the new Congress comes in. The question is just how far the timid Republicans are willing to go.

Thank God for Judicial Watch.
