Bill Maher, Hatem Bazian and Free Speech

Hat tip Ruthfully Yours

In two weeks, comedian Bill Maher will be speaking at the UC Berkeley commencement on December 20, which has drawn protests because of his critical statements about Islam. Those protests are being spearheaded by UCB professor Hatem Bazian, the founder of Students for Justice in Palestine, a thuggish organization with chapters on many campuses that has engaged in intimidation tactics against Jewish and pro-Israel students.

I am cross-posting this article by Abraham H Miller, which was written last month. It is still timely and compares Bazian's efforts to stamp down free speech at Berkeley with incidents that occurred at UC Irvine, one  of which I was present at.

As I have said before, I am no fan of Bill Maher, but this commencement event is much bigger than him. I hope he and the university do not back down in the face of bullies like Bazian and his ilk.
