Hat tip The College Fix
This is hardly an isolated story. A conservative student writer at the Cornell student newspaper becomes the target of an ugly smear campaign on campus.

Here is what Kairey wrote in which he condemned sexual assault but argued for due process in university proceedings against accused offenders.
Currently, the issue of campus rape is becoming THE hot button topic on campuses threatening to overtake the pro-Palestinian movement. While I view rape as one of the most heinous crimes one can commit, I think there should be some serious discussion of the numerical breakdown on rapes and reported rapes in our universities. If you are going to claim, as many do, that one out of every four co-eds is going to be the victim of a sexual assault, then the circumstances should be examined in the cause of eliminating more rapes in the future. For example, are we talking about a woman being dragged into the bushes as she makes her way from class to her dorm after dusk? Are we talking about someone breaking down the door to a woman's dorm room and assaulting her? Or are we talking about a binge drinking party where things get out of control and people make decisions they regret? Keep in mind that universities are notorious for binge drinking parties. I have a sneaking suspicion that many such cases arise from these situations.
However, even in the case of the latter, it is imperative that men not take advantage of a woman who is under the influence of alcohol or drugs. If a woman is unconscious, there is obviously no consent, and that is rape. If a woman is conscious, but under the influence, she should be left alone and protected by those around her-even if she appears to be consenting to some form of physical activity.
Due process for the accused? Sure. If nothing, the Duke lacrosse team rape case should have taught us that.
All I'm saying is let's have an honest discussion of the problem situations that place women at risk at college. If we can't do that then we can't take appropriate measures to cut down on these incidents.
Apparently, Mr Kairey learned the hard way that such a discussion is not welcomed by many at Cornell.
Seems like he can handle the heat. That's important, because bullies will appear to intimidate you, whether you are a labor organizer or a conservative campus columnist. No point in whining, be prepared to dish out more than flies your way.
