Hat tip College Fix
It was inevitable. The Students for Justice in Palestine, after failing through intimidation to pass their boycott measure against Israel at UCLA, resorted to new tactics and calling it "social justice", convinced the gullible student government to pass it.

Of course, this has nothing to do with social justice because Israel is the only country in the Middle East that knows anything about social justice. It is about the Arabs' hate for the Jews.
So let them celebrate. UCLA is not going to divest from anything. It is just another waste of students' time and energy.
What's wrong with divesting from an apartheid state like Israel???
ReplyDeleteStudents who go to UCLA are not dumb Gary. You should know first hand that the vast majority of students at UCI are smart and devoted to their education. UCLA is more selective than UCI and admits more accomplished students.
I only wish Israeli divestment will rise to state and federal level like it did with apartheid South Africa.
Anonymous,
ReplyDeleteI am not so sure I agree with you that UCLA is more selective than UCI. Don't underestimate the intelligence of UCI students. Keep in mind that UCI has a much smaller hummanities section than UCLA. UCI specializes in engineering, biology, and pre-med.
@ Anonymous,
ReplyDeleteAnonymous, you are the either uniformed or peddling your ideology. In each case, it makes your statement and argument about Israel being "apartheid" faulty.
First, South Africa, was an apartheid state as they did not extend human or legal rights to the Black population. The Black population did not vote and they did not hold political positions in government. This is a divided population.
The state of Israel on the other hand does extend civil liberties to the Arabs. Arabs hold office in the government and can be elected into office. Jobs are available to Arabs who desire to work in Israel.
The UCLA students who voted for the divestment are ones that Jonathan Gruber was eluding to.
