Will Professor Juan Cole Call This Minuscule?
In the latest ISIS atrocity involving the beheadings of 12 Syrian soldiers and American Peter Kassig, French intelligence has identified one of the murderers as a 22-year-old Frenchman, Maxime Hauchard.

This is just the latest revelation about Western Muslims who answer the call of Jihad and rush off to join ISIS. As for France, Hauchard joins the young man who returned from the fighting and carried out a deadly shooting at a Jewish museum in Brussels.
All of which, University of Michigan professor Juan Cole, an apologist for Islamist excesses, would term minuscule. A few weeks ago, I caught Cole's act at California State University at Long Beach. During the q and a, a student asked Cole about the British jihadists in Iraq and Syria, particularly the one known as Jihad John, who beheaded the American journalist James Foley. Cole's reaction was to condemn British Prime Minister David Cameron and his government for alerting the public to the fact that some 400 Brits had gone to join the fighting on ISIS's side. Cole called it racist and Islamophobic, a way to beat up on Muslims. He also added that 400 Muslims out of a total Muslim population in the UK of almost 4 million was "minuscule".
Juan Cole
"Minuscule."
I wonder if Cole would refer to Hauchard as being a "minuscule" representative of French Muslims. Perhaps, since Muslims comprise somewhere between 10-15% of the total French population. Last seen, they were rioting in cities like Paris, Marseilles and Lyons over the Israeli-Gaza fighting, attacking French synagogues, and burning Jewish-owned shops (a minuscule percentage, to be sure, Dr Cole).
"C'est minuscule."
I also wonder if Cole would condemn the French intelligence services and the French government for being "Islamophobic" in revealing the identity of Monsieur Hauchard.
"Oui. C'est Raciste et Islamophobique."
Finally, the above article also quotes a British man named Ahmed Muthana as telling the Daily Mail that he saw his own 20-year-old son, Nasser Muthana, in the ISIS video. Was that an example of Muslim-bashing, Dr Cole?
"Quite right."
I wonder if Cole would refer to Hauchard as being a "minuscule" representative of French Muslims.
ReplyDeleteWhether he would or not, I certainly would. And Hauchard sounds like a convert too.
Siarlys,
ReplyDeleteI worry about the converts as much as the others.
