For six years, we have seen how the Obama administration refuses to secure this country from threats from outside our borders. First, it was the Mexican border. From Matamoros across from Brownsville, Texas, to Tijuana, the southern side of the border has been awash in bloodshed with drug gangs and human smuggling gangs killing each other. The violence has often spilled over as the Border Patrol regularly finds bodies in the desert on our side of the border, many of whom are murdered. Phoenix has become the kidnap capital of the US in recent years. And what was the response of the Obama administration? Operation Fast and Furious, a crazy scheme hatched by still unknown bureaucrats in Washington to allow US-purchased guns to "walk" into Mexico. The purpose? So that when said guns were seized from shooting incidents, our government could "prove" that a disproportionate percentage of guns used in Mexican murders originated in the US-as they have claimed. Hence the need for tighter restrictions on the sale and ownership of guns. To this day, Eric Holder and his Justice Department have lied and stonewalled Congress in its attempt to find out who ordered this fiasco. DHS head Janet Napolitano ignored the fact that one, if not two of her own agents were murdered by these guns. She waltzed off to the University of California without (by her own admission) even asking Holder why her agents were killed by these guns.
Aside from illegal immigrants and criminal activity, we have the never-ending transit of drugs through Mexico into the US. To be fair, past administrations have also failed to effectively secure our southern border both against drugs and illegal aliens. But now we also have the problem of people from the Middle East trying to sneak into the US via Mexico. I don't think their goal is to get a job at McDonalds. Just in the past week or so, four Middle Easterners were apprehended after crossing the border into Texas. DHS Secretary Jeh Johnson, following in the grand tradition of his predecessor, Napolitano, was apparently the last to be informed. As late as this weekend, he was unaware if they were still in custody. (They are.) Yet Johnson insists that there is no terror connection. (Just wanted to work at McDonalds I guess.)
The most recent phenomenon we have seen at our southern border is the flood of Central Americans including many unaccompanied children. They don't even try to sneak in. They present themselves to the Border Patrol because they have been convinced that once in, they will be allowed to stay. And they are right. Now we have Border Patrol agents changing diapers and delivering birthday cakes for the kids.
Now comes ISIS beheading anybody in Iraq and Syria who doesn't share their agenda or religion. Christians are fleeing for their lives as are many Muslims as well. We have a massive refugee problem as thousands, tens of thousands of people try to escape this insane Islamic army. And what are we doing? We are preparing to admit thousands of refugees, but it appears there is no priority for the one group most at risk-the Christians! Meanwhile, in spite of the worldwide jihad going on, we continue to admit Muslims by the hundreds of thousands. It defies reason.
But here is the rub: Thousands of these ISIS monsters are carrying Western passports as they have left their countries of residence to get to the jihad. If they are not killed, they will return to said countries which include the US. Not only that, ISIS tells us they are going to attack us. In Holland, the Dutch have started lifting the passports of those they suspect are preparing to leave that country to join the fighting. Geert Wilders, who seems to be the only sane man in the Dutch Parliament, asks why they don't let them leave then cancel their passports and try to keep them from returning.
Even when a few countries in West Africa break out with the Ebola virus, we can't act to keep travelers from those countries coming here. For weeks now our government has treated this as a major crisis, which it is, and one that requires that the US do whatever is possible to help the situation in Africa. That's all well and good. We should help, but why not take the necessary steps to keep Ebola from coming here? Jeh Johnson was asked that question by Fox's Bret Baier this weekend and he gave no straight answer. Meanwhile, Ebola is here. It is in Dallas, courtesy of a Liberian man who easily whisked past the pathetic checks and controls when he left that country. If you think our government is going to ban travelers from West Africa to come here even temporarily until the virus is contained, think again.
The obvious negligence when it comes to securing our borders and protecting us from clear and present dangers seems like it is following a deliberate pattern as if our government doesn't want to protect us from illegal immigration, crime, terrorism, and deadly viruses. It's enough to make me start believing in conspiracy theories.
Yes, the world is a dangerous place. We are lucky to keep as much hazard at arm's length as we have. Now what was this negligence you were talking about?
