Remember the Girls of Nigeria?

Hat tip Nigerian Voice

Remember the 300 mostly Christian schoolgirls of Chibok, Nigeria who were kidnapped by the Islamic terrorist group Boko Haram? Sure. It's not easy keeping one Islamic atrocity in the headlines day after day while other Islamic atrocities push it off the front pages. There has been another video released this past week showing the inbreed leader of BK mocking Michele Obama's "Bring back our girls" tweets. But for the most part, the media has moved on covering-or trying not to cover- the Hamas barrage of rockets into Israel, or the pogroms in Paris, or the mass killings of Christians and non-Sunnis in Syria and Iraq.

But the Nigerian Voice has a report on what continues to happen to these little girls in the hands of the jihadis of Boko Haram based on the testimony of a girl who recently escaped.

They are being raped daily-gang raped- to put it more accurately.

Remember several weeks ago when a Nigerian official told the press they knew where the girls were being held but counseled patience? If they attacked, the girls would all be killed before they could rescue them, he stated. At what point does Nigeria decide these girls have nothing to lose by an attack.

I may not have an answer to the Nigerian dilemma, but I do know what the problem is.

  1. One reason they were taken in the first place is that the Nigerian armed forces did nothing when informed by local people that Boko Haram were camped in the vicinity. Basically, the Nigerian army seems to be staffed with people whose primary objective is to avoid confrontation because someone might get hurt.
