DHS's "Escort Services" Ad
"Welcome to the US."
When I posted the below article two days ago, I did so with some trepidation. Even though I backtracked it to the DHS website, I still had the feeling that this had to be some kind of prank or put-up job..

Alas, it was righteous, all right. Seems the DHS actually took it down, re-worded it then put it back up. We don't some Honduran kid thinking he had hookers waiting for him on the other side of the Rio Grande, do we?

"They promised me a hooker."
Actually, I suspect the real reason DHS changed it was because it had gone viral. No matter how you break it down, your tax dollars are now supporting the transportation of illegal aliens around the country.
With the DHS sanctioning and assisting the transport of illegals, who in some cases are carriers of polio, resistant strains of tuberculosis, childhood deceases such as measles, mumps and chickenpox, in addition to vicious gang members from Central America and "Other Than Mexican" (OTM) illegals, America faces a real threat. The Department of Human Health Services is trying to help here (more than our Veterans get from the VA), are not that effective.
ReplyDeleteMaybe the DHS should change its name from Homeland Security to Homeland Destruction.

ReplyDeleteI can see it now, Gary Fouse in a dark coffee shop somewhere, strumming a guitar and singing Woody Guthrie's "Deportees."
Come on Gary, unless we want to keep them, we're going to have to transport them somewhere. They're in custody, wherever it is they're transported. You want the border patrol to just throw them over the fence into the river?
(I know Miggie does, but he's the all-around misanthrope).
Even though we apparently knew six months ago that this flood was coming, and further apparently did not do too much, if anything, to prevent it, I guess what bothers me most about this is that if I have pieced it together accurately (which might not be the case), while it is DHS who is apprehending these children, sometimes along with parent(s) or other adults, they are being turned over to HHS.
ReplyDeleteNothing inherently wrong with that, but I further understand that they are then being treated as "refugees" rather than illegal immigrants, and are essentially granted "asylum" and being housed in what are tantamount to "refugee resettlement centers".
What IS inherent in THAT is that these folks will almost certainly never be deported/returned to their country of origin, but will instead ultimately achieve some sort of legal status in the U.S. (yet another form of amnesty), as subsequently will parent(s), and sibling(s) as well, who remain at present in the home country and who will at some future date be "invited" or allowed into the country as refugees with similar treatment. Naturalization will, of course, follow down the pike for all, without them having gone through the "normal" entry and other processes, which seems not only grossly unfair but highly irresponsible to boot.
I sincerely hope I am proved wrong, but it sounds to me a lot like just another building block by Dems to have a permanent, but illegitimately based, voting majority at some future date, maybe in a generation or so. Even at that, it is probably quicker to do it this way rather than through traditional measures.

ReplyDeleteOh? How did you establish that?
DHS is not set up to care for detained children. It is set up to apprehend. You really don't want DHS devoting its personnel and resources to childcare, do you elwood? Let DHS do what its trained for, and until these kids are processed, let HHS do what it is better able to do.
I further understand that they are then being treated as "refugees" rather than illegal immigrants, and are essentially granted "asylum" and being housed in what are tantamount to "refugee resettlement centers".

I sincerely hope I am proved wrong, but...
Well, so far, you haven't offered evidence that anything you say is accurate.
Elementary, my dear Siarlys. And please stop picking at nits so much.
ReplyDeleteAs to your first point, the apparently undated document Gary furnished is I guess what I would essentially call a sort of "heads-up" for a future solicitation for services. It clearly states "The anticipated release date of the solicitation is March 3, 2014." Obviously then, it must have been published sometime prior to that date, no?? Fox News and others have reported, accurately or otherwise, that documentation (request for information) on this matter was published in January 2014, and this appears to be that document.
On the second point, again Fox News and others have reported that a June 17, 2014 document relative to this contract reads in part "The objective of this contract is to provide highly structured, efficient transportation of UAC from their point(s) of entry/staging location in the RGV to ORR shelters, for the purpose of family reunification or long-term-care".
UAC stands for "unaccompanied alien children". RGV stands for "Rio Grande Valley". ORR stands for "Office of Refugee Resettlement", which is located within DHS (possibly ICE??). I suppose you can quibble over my usage of "camps" rather than "centers", but the principle is exactly the same. Sure sounds to me like they are being treated as refugees rather than illegal immigrants, with all that accompanies that process.
I would have thought that my statement relative to future possibilities would have been easily recognized as an opinion which, of course, needs no proof. We all have them, and usually ours smell very nice while the other guy's smell something like armpits and/or the distal end of our alimentary canal. You can argue about how they are reached, but they are, after all, only opinions.
This will, in my view, almost certainly be similar to DACA, where even if applications filed by undocumented immigrants (aka illegals) are ultimately disapproved, the details furnished may not be used as a basis to deport them.
It is running on their website now.
