Anti-Semitism exploded once again in Europe today as a gunman shot and killed three-possibly four people at a Jewish museum in Brussels.

The French-language Belgian paper, La Libre reports that a suspect has been questioned in the shooting, but no further details are given regarding his identity. It is also reported that the attacker double parked his Audi in front of the museum, that a passenger got out of the vehicle, after which the driver got out, laid two bags on the ground, opened fire, then fled in the vehicle. The paper reports that a 4th victim has died from wounds.

The Dutch/Flemish-language Belgian daily De Standaard reports three dead and one seriously wounded. It also reports that witnesses were able to get the license plate of the vehicle and that a suspect is in custody.

ReplyDeleteI would guess that organizations devoted to promoting almost any ideology attract people who are suffering mental illness. I've seen it on a small scale just in terms of who is willing to devote their life voluntarily to even a worthwhile cause that doesn't pay well... some highly motivated people, and some people with obvious mental illness. Then there was Whittaker Chambers, a tortured soul who shouldn't have been taken seriously by either the Communist Party or the FBI, who remained a neurotic living out his fantasies in both worlds.
ReplyDeleteA lot of suicide bombers are suffering from mental illness and are attracted to an ideology to which they can be useful idiots. Its a shame we give them attention as martyrs, when we should be treating them as dangerous psychopaths.
On what basis do you say suicide bombers are psychopaths? Have you read studies on the issue? There is an ideology that tells them they will go directly to paradise.

He's another psychopath, inspired, during the course of his life, by at least two causes that provided him a platform for self-admiration.
