NYU Anti-Israel Conference Report

Hat tip Legal Insurrection and JNS.org

"We are having a conference on American imperialism."

According to Legal Insurrection, Lisa Duggan's anti-Israel symposium (or whatever you want to call it) went off without a hitch at New York University.

As they used to say in the old Soviet Politburo,
"The ayes have it."

In addition, Tammi Benjamin, Professor of Hebrew at UC Santa Cruz and  Leila Beckwith, Professor Emeritus at UCLA, have written this assessment of the conference.

One might ask what scholarly endeavor is involved when a bunch of activists hold a conference in which no dissenting voices are allowed? Indeed, as pointed out, the organizer, Prof. Lisa Duggan, attempted to keep the conference a secret lest opposing voices show up to weigh in. This is scholarship at a university? This is utter nonsense worthy of Moscow State University in the Soviet era.

And what are Duggan's academic credentials? She is a professor of gender and sexuality, a topic of dubious value for academic study in a university.

So apparently, a wonderful time was had by all, and no skunks showed up at the garden party.

  1. Be glad. An academic conference behind closed doors is of very limited propaganda value. Like you say, they all had a good time -- and nobody heard a word they pronounced.
