Lerner Takes 5th Again. Cummings Explodes and Asks Issa, "What Are We Hiding?"

Those of  you on the left who insist there is "not a smidgen of corruption" in the IRS scandal just had your task become a lot harder today when Lois Lerner returned to the House committee investigating the scandal and once again took the 5th. Then to make things worse, when committee chairman Darrell Issa (R-CA) adjourned the hearing. That caused Elijah Cummings (D-MD) to try and launch into a series of statements. When Issa failed to accommodate Cummings, the latter blew up. The below Fox News report has the video.

Amazing! Cummings, who leads the cover-ups on behalf of the White House on several scandals, blows up and asks Issa, "What are we hiding?"

What Lois Lerner knows, for one thing, Mr Cummings.

Naturally, the media is in full spin mode blaming Issa for being rude. Chief among the media elite making that charge is CNN's hapless Wolf Blitzer.

First of all, Issa is the committee chair, not Cummings. Adjourning the hearing when it became clear that Lerner was not going to answer questions was his prerogative. Cummings had the chance to make his opening statement at the beginning of the hearing. It was Cummings who lost his temper and engaged in a meltdown as the tape clearly shows.

But the point that matters here is not who was rude to whom. The point is that Lerner is still taking the 5th. The IRS scandal is real and there is a cover-up in progress.

  1. By Lerner taking the 5th again, point the finger of scandal right at Obama and his minions. It is a lie that Obama told, among many, that there is not a smidgin of scandal with the IRS. That lie was for the great unknowing public. Obama knows that most of the unknown do not have a clue about what is happening with the IRS. The Media, as you have indicated Gary, will not tell the truth.
Lerner needs to got to jail, like any of us folks, if we refuse to tell the truth to Congress.
Cummings is merely a little chess piece in Obama's hands and will yell ans scream, jump up and down at his command

  2. Issa doesn't run investigations, he runs show trials, and shuts off the microphones if anyone deviates from the Party Line.

Incidentally, why has Gary never mentioned that Lerner is the one who first REPORTED that some improprieties had been discovered?

Anybody called before Gauleiter Issa should take the fifth. You never know how is Goebbelian cohorts will twist their words.

  3. Twist their words? That's why it's on videotape. And since when do "whistleblowers" take the 5th?

  4. My best guesstimate is that an immunity deal for Lerner keeps getting messed up, with everyone not on the same page.

  5. Deal with whom? Eric Holder's DOJ? To this day, the Feds have yet to interview any of the people involved.

  6. Maybe it doesn't constitute a crime? Maybe it is merely an administrative matter? To constitute a crime, behavior has to be the subject of a statute. One can be fired for irresponsibility that falls far short of a criminal offense.

Oh, by the way, ever hear of splicing and editing?

  7. For the IRS to share tax-payer info with the White House is a crime. They can't even share it with law enforcement except under certain conditions (working together in a grand jury investigation for example)
