Fogel Family Massacre Revisited

Hat tip Pro-Israel Bay Bloggers

"Three years ago, two youths from Awarta killed a settler from the nearby illegal settlement of Itemar, and for this act they both received five life sentences. In response, Israeli forces arrested approximately 18 young men and women from the village. Rais Abdat was one of these men."

Three years ago, five members of an Israeli family were massacred by two young Palestinian men in the settlement of Itamar. The victims included three children including a months-old infant whose throat was slashed in its crib. This week, the Palestinians in the West Bank are celebrating the release of one of the young men who were arrested by Israelis as accomplices in that crime. Also celebrating is the International Solidarity Movement. On their website, they described the crime as the murder of one Israeli settler for which the two killers received 5 life sentences. You can watch  the celebration of the release on the ISM video.

By coincidence, just last week, two co-founders of the ISM (Huwaida Araff and Adam Shapiro) spoke to an audience at San Diego State University. Had I been aware of this latest development and the ISM reaction to it, I could have asked them about it.

I also note the reference to the Palestinian prisoner advocate organization ADDAMEER. Last year, Sahar Francis, a representative of this organization, spoke at UC Irvine during the Muslim Student Union's anti-Israel week of events. I happened to ask her about the Fogel massacre, and you can see her "response" below.

The article by ISM regarding the release of this young man speaks volumes about that organization. The reaction of the Palestinians and the family of the actual killers to the case also speaks volumes about them as well.

Of course, the largely student audience at SDSU last week probably has no knowledge of any of the details of the Itamar massacre of the Fogel family.

  1. During World War II, Hitler's regime settled German farm families in the lebensraum of Poland. Polish resistance units slaughtered these families and burned down their houses whenever and wherever they could.

The Fogel family was, from a Palestinian point of view, not much different from those German settlers. They're just pushing into their lebensraum more slowly.

I'm not in favor of slaughtering babies for the sins of their parents, but it happened in both contexts. I'd rather see the IDF remove Jewish settlers and raze their settlements, bringing them back kicking and screaming to Israeli territory.

ANYONE can be a National Socialist for their "own kind," whether Arab, Jewish, German, or Russian.
