Dutch Soccer Team Bows to UAE Anti-Semitism

Hat tip Jihad Watch and Israel National News

So what does a principled sports team do if they are going to train in a country and said country refuses to allow one of its players to enter the country because he is Israeli? That's the decision that faced the Dutch soccer team Vitesse when the United Arab Emirates said they could not bring team member Dan Mori, an Israeli and the team's best defender. The team would all stay home, right?

Wrong.

This is acceptance of bigotry-pure and simple. Geert Wilders was right to condemn the moral cowardice of the team. Unfortunately, this kind of attitude is rather prevalent in the Netherlands these days.

  1. Of course Wilders is right. Well, he would be, wouldn't he? The issue fits his mold perfectly.

That aside, there is little moral distinction between this and a college team leaving its lone black player behind because the other school refuses to play against him.

On the other hand, what Israeli citizen would want to train in Dubai? Sounds dangerous.
