"Peace in Our Time"

"Peace in our time"
"A Nobel Peace in Our Time Prize for me"

The centrifuges remain. No stop to uranium enrichment. No facilities dismantled.  No release of an Iranian-American pastor imprisoned unjustly. What about Iran's support of international terrorism? Nothing addressed there.

Have we forgotten the lesson of Munich? You can't negotiate with evil. You have to defeat it. You have to squeeze its balls into they are crushed. That's what sanctions could have done if ratcheted up all the way by a united world community.

Instead we shall witness Kerry, Lady Catherine Ashton, the French foreign minister, and the Russian and Chinese foreign ministers receiving their Nobel peace prizes in Oslo while Iran continues along its merry way deceiving us, fomenting terror around the world, and continuing its design to destroy Israel, a nation now standing alone after being deserted by the Obama administration and the equally feckless Europeans (who were never Israel's friends to begin with).

  1. I think that John F. Kennedy said it best: "Only when the winds of adversity blow, can you tell whether an individual or a country has steadfastness."

  2. "Peace in our time."

Did I miss something? Has a large chunk of territory been handed over to Iran? Has a neighboring nation with an army twenty times the size of the American or British army lost a fortified border, leaving it defenseless against further Iranian incursions? Was it Pakistan? Or Iraq? Turkey maybe? Gary is worried that Kerry sold out Turkey to Iran as Chamberlain sold out Czechoslovakia to Germany?

This is the usual problem with knee-jerk analogies. They simply aren't as clever as they appear to be for the first five seconds or so.

  3. Don't talk to Secretary of State John Kerry or President Barack Obama of the League of Nations (which enjoyed such success ensuring world peace) or the Kellogg-Briand Pact, the 1928 treaty that outlawed war as an instrument of national policy. Fifty-four countries, including all the major belligerents of World War II, signed the pact. Don't mention the series of "breakthrough agreements" between the United States and North Korea in which we thrice (1994, 2005 and 2007) offered security guarantees, food aid, diplomatic concessions and cash in exchange for North Korea's promise to discontinue its nuclear program.

The very same person who handled negotiations with North Korea for the Clinton Administration, Wendy Sherman, is now heading up the U.S. team and stroking the Iranians.

  4. Perhaps the most important feature of this deal is that it greatly favors Iran and makes the U.S. look like the stupids of the universe. The contention that the 20% enriched nuke material goes away is false. The Iranians know that they can take the 20% material and chemically change it into another substance (an oxide) that can be easily changed, quickly, back to fissionable material for a nuke. Surprise!
So, North Korea, China and Israle know this. Putin laughs as this POTUS tries to fool Americans and the world.

  5. OK Miggie, I won't talk about the Kellogg-Briand pact. I won't talk about how the Republicans gained the White House in 1952 on the promise to negotiate an end to Harry Truman's war in Korea either.
