Washington Post Article on Anti-Christian Persecution

"Who are the Perps?"

Hat tip Jihad Watch

Steven Nasatir, of the Jewish United Fund and Jewish Federation of Washington, has an op-ed in the Washington Post on the on-going persecution of Christians in the Middle East. The only problem is that beyond listing countries and naming organizations like the Taliban, he doesn't really identify the perps or the motive.

It is heartening that Mr Nasatir, as a Jew , is concerned about the persecution of Christians. I only wish that he had had the courage to spell it out who the perpetrators are and why they are doing it. The persecution of Christians is being carried out by Muslims across the Islamic world and is being done for religious reasons-because they are not Muslims.

There. That wasn't so hard was it?

Last night, I watched Diane Sawyer's special TV show on Malala, the Pakistani girl shot by the Taliban because she spoke up for the rights of girls to get an education. It wasn't until the last few minutes that Sawyer got beyond the fact that it was the Taliban who carried out the shooting and started to delve into the Islamic aspect of it. The Taliban, after all,  don't want this girl dead because her family didn't pay protection money. It is their interpretaion of Islam that led this to this heinous act. (To be fair, it should be pointed out that not all Muslims subscribe to the idea that females should not be educated.)

To point out injustices is fine, but it only goes halfway unless you identify the perpetrators.

  1. Gary Fouse didn't know that the Taliban was motivated by the Wahabbi school of Islam? He had to learn it from Diane Sawyer? Oh, no, he's spluttering he knew it all along. OK, Gary Fouse thinks the American people are too stupid to realize that the Taliban are Muslims, unless Diane Sawyer makes a point of mentioning it. Glad to have that straightened out.

  2. Of course they aren't Gary. And police arent' supposed to talk about evangelical Christianity when prosecuting Eric Rudolph and Scott Roeder. Its what people DO that makes them criminals, not what church or mosque or synagogue they belong to.
