Hat tip Campus Reform
MSU President Lou Anna Simon
"At some point in time you get out of bounds in the way things are handled - it affects the learning environment..."
William Penn, the Michigan State professor who drew fire when he was recorded blasting away at Republicans, the Romneys, and others in class, has been removed from the classroom. But he is still drawing his full salary.

Looks like the way they handle things in the Los Angeles Unified School District. They can't get rid of them, so they take them out of the classroom and have them report every day to the LAUSD Rubber Room, where they surf the net and read all day.
As for this guy's First Amendment rights, that is a tiresome argument. He has the right to start a blog or stand in the public park and say whatever he wants. He has a responsibility to the university to be a professional and teach his course-creative writing. I teach English grammar and writing for foreign students at UC Irvine. Whatever you read me say on this blog is never mentioned in my classroom. I voice no personal political or social opinions in my class. That is my rule. This guy is no educator; he is an indoctrinator, and he has brought embarrassment to MSU.
Hopefully, Lou can come up with a solution.
What a pathetic solution. They know they have a loose cannon but the best they can bring themselves to do is to give him a paid vacation.
ReplyDeleteThe problem is that they all believe as he does so his outrageous behavior just isn't that bad to them.
Had he dared to say anything about Obozo, he would have been out of there in no time.
There is something particularly odious when someone uses their position of authority to impose their views (or themselves) on students who are obliged to please him.
