News item: A man and woman have been arrested in Canada on terror charges. The most that reporters can get out of the RCMP spokesmen is that they were motivated by "al Qaeda ideology".

To say that these people were "self-radicalized" and not part of a larger conspiracy or organization borders on misleading. If they are Muslim converts (they have Western names), and had religious, jihadist motivation, the public has a right to know this.
Another example of political correctness at the expense of a public being informed of the threats they face.
al Qaeda ideology sounds like a precise and accurate term. What's your problem with it?
ReplyDeleteI wasn't able to sit through the video although I saw enough to know that there were reasons he answered as obtusely as he did.
ReplyDeleteI did read the article though and noticed the absence of the M-Word (Muslim). I suppose that is so the Canadians don't rise up in righteous anger over what violence one small segment of the population intends to commit.
Also I saw the sentence: "Morino said Nuttall is a convert to Islam, but he added that Islam and al-Qaida "don't go hand in hand."
I wonder what planet he grew up in. Not all Muslims have an al-Qaida orientation but all al-Qaida members are Muslim.
