Scandals and Investigations Notwithstanding, the Confirmation Process Must Go on

This week, we have learned that Alejandro Mayorkas is under investigation by the DHS Inspector General for improperly using his position as director of Citizenship and Immigration Services  to help out a company owned by the brother of Hillary Clinton. On Tuesday, he appeared at his Senate confirmation hearing to become the number two man at DHS. Republicans had asked that in light of the breaking news, the hearing be rescheduled. That was rejected, so they boycotted the hearing.

"Ah wunnerful, ah wunnerful, ah."

Also this week, Eric Holder's top henchman at Justice, Thomas Perez, was confirmed as Labor secretary. This guy brings a long list of questionable activities while in Justice to his new job at Labor. They may as well rename the department's HQ the Great Hall of the Unions. It seems to me that the Obama administration, with this Senate and accommodating Republicans like John McCain and  Lindsay Graham, could get Charles Manson confirmed.

Which is good news for Anthony Weiner. If that mayor gig in New York falls through, he could easily be nominated-and confirmed- as head of the FCC.
