Hat tip Commentary Magazine and Miggie
Jonathan S. Tobin has an interesting take on Anthony Weiner in Commentary Magazine in the wake of his latest "admissions" yesterday.

With all due respect, I disagree with Tobin on one point. That has to do with his marriage to Huma Abedin, who chose to insert herself into yesterday's event. This is not a private matter as long as Weiner aspires to be mayor of New York-or occupy any other political position in the future. Here is why:
Huma comes from a Saudi family that has documented alliances to the Muslim Brotherhood. She herself once worked for the Muslim Minority Affairs Journal, a publication with similar questionable connections.

Huma's marriage to Weiner while she was a top aide to Secretary of State Hillary Clinton is in itself a mystery. Muslim women do not marry non-Muslim men-especially Jewish men- without taking enormous risks that go way beyond family disapproval or being disowned. It carries a death sentence as an offense to Islam and her family's honor. Keep in mind that the Saudis practice the strictest form of Islam. Weiner's latest indiscretions can only increase the sense of shame that Huma's family would, under Islamic values, be feeling. The only thing that could prevent this reaction would be if Weiner had converted to Islam. (It is also possible that Huma may have quietly left Islam, which she understandably would not want to publicize.)
Normally, we should not care if one has converted to the other's religion or not. Yet, if Abedin does have these questionable family connections to the Muslim Brotherhood, is it not time to publicly question the nature of this relationship? Is this an effort to inject MB influence into New York City Hall? There is something about this whole relationship that smells.
* Correction: Huma's family is not Saudi. Her parents are Indian-Pakistani. The family lived in Saudi Arabia for a number of years.
