A Real Million-Man March in Egypt: Where Does Obama Stand?
The new standard
From now on, anybody claiming to be organizing one of those million-man marches in Washington in support of this or that will have a high standard to match indeed. In Egypt, what we have witnessed over the weekend is a true multi-million man and woman march against the Islamo-fascist government of Mohammed Morsi and the Muslim Brotherhood.
Let us not forget that most of the protesters are themselves Muslims, who would prefer not to live in a theocratic state. Surely, Coptic Christians, concerned about their own safety under the Morsi regime, participated as well in spite of the urging of our American ambassador to Cairo, one Anne Patterson, not to do so in order to protect the "stability' of the Morsi regime-whatever that was supposed to mean.
Meanwhile, President Obama is running around southern and East Africa "monitoring the situation closely". Well he should. Under Obama, the US has invested mightily in the Morsi regime, sending billions in aid as well as tanks and planes to prop up this burgeoning Islamist regime, all the while as Coptic Christians suffer increasing persecution.
The question now is, what will be the official policy of the US Government under Obama as to the Morsi regime? Do we continue to support it and discourage protesters from taking to the streets? If we do, so much for America standing for the principles of freedom.
This has yet to play out, but the way it is going, it will be yet another testament to the utter failure of the Middle East policy of Obama and his ex-secretary of State, Hillary Clinton.
Where does Obama stand?
ReplyDeleteI think he is on a 100 million dollar vacation with his family now. Not only is he watching the situation, he is following it closely. He may even appoint a commission to study the situation. No doubt a strong statement after events have played out while he dithers. This what he did in the Iranian uprising.
This has been a unprecedented disaster in both foreign and domestic affairs. Not only is he the worst president we ever had he is likely to be the worst president we ever will have.
Liberals! Enjoy the new normal... Record number of poor people, chaos in the healthcare system, concurrent coverups and scandals in the administration. And Obama is enjoying a very expensive vacation at our expense at this crucial time. Well, at least he is black. Why else vote for him?
I don't get it - is Obama going to look bad if Morsi stays or goes? Or is he just going to look bad no matter what happens aside from some sort of impossible miracle?
ReplyDeleteJakes,
ReplyDeleteHe already looks bad because he has backed this regime with words, money, planes and tanks. His ambassador has asked protesters not to protest including the Copts who have every reason to protest.
Jakes, you got it. Obama backed the representative of the Muslim Brotherhood with our money. If Morsi escapes this episode Obama stupidly backed this oppressive regime. If Morsi is overthrown, the Eqyptians, as well as the rest of the world will know he makes monumental foreign policy mistakes. The US can be ignored as being without influence.
ReplyDeleteThe only ones who don't acknowledge these failures are the liberals who have drunk the Kool-Aide.
