Italy's "Martyr" in Syria

Hat tip Vlad Tepes

An Italian convert to Islam, 20-year-old Giuliano Ibrahim Delnevo of Genoa, has died in Syria fighting on the side of the rebels. The Italian media is treating him with great sympathy.

This foolish young man tells his government to get out of Afghanistan. Fair enough, but what was he doing in Syria? Euronews reports he was under investigation in Italy for terrorist recruiting at the time of his death.

  2. Nelly,

I Hope they execute him. What's the religious angle here?

Are you seriously going to research and send me every case of murder/ rape committed by some white guy who lives in a Christian country?

The reason there is so much reporting of murders and rapes by Muslims-at least in the blogs- is because there are religious angles to the stories. Muslim women in religious garb and covered appropriately, are not being attacked in Europe. It is non-Muslim women. And it is an epidemic if you look into the cases and data coming out of countries like UK, Denmark, Sweden, Norway and others.

You might check out Sura 33-verse 59 in the Koran (depending how your version is worded.) Many men take it as a license to have their way with women who don't follow the code-especially if they are non-Muslims. Here is what my English-language version says from Book of Signs Foundation (Muslim organization).

"O Prophet. tell your wives and your daughters, and the believing women, that they should wear their outer clothes over their bodies (when outside): That is most suitable (and appropriate), so that they should be known (as believing women) and not be annoyed (or attacked). And Allah is Often Forgiving, Most merciful."

The reasoning for the covering is that men should not be tempted, as stated by religious leaders over and over through the years, decades and centuries.

And no, I am not saying that all Muslim men are rapists, murderers, or terrorists-or that they would all be tempted to attack a woman if she is not covered. So don't accuse me of that. But we have to address the problem as it exists in Europe (I don't see it here in the US).

Why don't you send me some articles on how white, American Christian John Dillinger robbed banks? What was the religious angle there?

  3. PS to Nelly,

"( I don't see it here in the US)"

    Did I speak too soon?

Now I can agree that if this guy is guilty of this, he may merely be a sexual predator with no thoughts in his head that there is a religious justification to this kind of act. The above article implies-if that is the right word- that the alleged perp feels a religious justification for this act based on Aisha and all that stuff. I think we have to find some statements by this individual after the arrest or before that may support that thesis.

The point is we can play this game on both sides.

  4. PS 2 to Nelly,

In contrast to the previous Frontpage article about the accused in Washington, here is another one more to the point. A Danish imam of Pakistani descent is accused of a sex crime in Sweden after having stated publicly that women who do not wear hijabs are asking to be raped. He even refers to the Koran.

    http://frontpagemag.com/2013/dgreenfield/muslim-imam-claims-women-who-dont-wear-hijabs-are-asking-to-be-raped-arrested-for-trying-to-rape-woman/

You see, there is a basis for the argument that there is a religious aspect to the rape epidemic in Europe by Muslims on non-Muslims. It is also happening to non-Muslim minorities in many Muslim-majority nations.

Your examples do not match examples like these. The biggest problem within Christianity is Catholic priest pedophilia, which has no theological justification in Christian doctrine. It is true that some priests have told their victims that the acts were part of pleasing God or some such rot, but the pedophilia has no religious justification and certainly not in the life of Jesus-unless you want to accept that stuff about Jesus having a love affair and child with Mary Magdalene (a consenting adult even if true I believe). I ascribe the pedophilia problem in the Catholic church to the rule that priests must remain single and celibate.

Again, I do not paint all Muslim men with this brush nor even most of them. To me it is part of the problem facing good Muslims. These are problems that must be solved within Islam by Muslims. That is not happening with few exceptions. It is unfortunate, but they make themselves irrelevant-just as in the terrorist issue by their silence.

  5. Siarlys,

I was responding to Nelly who is sending me a link to every arrest of a white, male who she assumes was born into a nominally Christian family. Nelly's examples do not have the links between certain acts and supposed religious justification-as does this. Plus, it is hardly an isolated case.
