So much for Marco Rubio and the Republicans insisting on border security before amnesty.

It is pretty clear at this point that we are going to have a repeat of 1986, when the amnesty bill passed and 3 million illegal aliens were "allowed to come out of the shadows". The Democrats promised President Reagan border control would follow, but that never happened.
As it stands now, the plan is to grant instant amnesty to the 11 or so million illegals and -get this- the Department of Homeland Security under Janet Napolitano would come up with a plan to secure the border.
A plan.
"You can roll your eyes, Fousesquawk."
Does anyone seriously think that woman has a plan to secure the border?
As the NSA scandal shows, our government has done a Hell of a job securing We the People. The only thing we are lacking at this point is block wardens. On the other hand, they can't and won't secure our border.
First a planned objective, then a series of meetings, then a strong statement.
ReplyDeleteAfter that it is old business and what difference, at this point, does it make?
Someone wrote that the first job of a politician is to get elected and the second one is to get re-elected.
Once you get that, everything else becomes clear.
the plan is to grant instant amnesty to the 11 or so million illegals
ReplyDeleteLast I read, the plan is to allow them to pay a registration fee, enroll for temporary legal residency and possible future citizenship, subject to paying various fines and penalties for illegal entry, and subject to a clean criminal record. Citizenship would take several years, and residency is revocable for all kinds of violations.
Doesn't sound either instant, or amnesty, to me, but of course, if we get into factual details, Fousesquawk wouldn't have the straw man Gary likes to beat up on, so as my fourth grade teacher used to say "My mind's made up, don't confuse me with the facts."
