Dept of ED: No More Mom-No More Dad

Hat tip Campus Reform

"Hey, parent number 2. What time is parent number 1 coming home from work?"

Forget about "Mom and apple pie". Now we have no more moms or dads-according to the Department of Education.

"The new language will “provide an inclusive form that reflects the diversity of American families,”

Here's my question: How many blocks will be on the form for parents?

Parent 1
Parent 2
Parent 3
Parent 4 .............................

Parent 56............

  1. My children didn't have a Parent 1 and Parent 2. They had a Mother and Father.

  2. This is kind of silly, but its not so bad as all that. Most kids do have a mother and a father, and either one can be parent one, and the other can be parent two. When I took my driver's test at 16, they had a policy at DMV that unless a mother had full custody separate from the father, the father had to be the parent to come sign the papers. Now, either father or mother can be parent one, or parent two. Its just a financial aid application form folks. Lighten up.

  3. This is how it begins!
I remember when they replaced "Sex" with "Gender" on application forms. You can choose a gender, but not a sex.

The whole thing demeans the unique value a mother or father provides a child.

  4. Isn't this just another variant of what Kitty Werthmann warned us about? See http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HAvMHWhdEUU
