Little Normie Finkelstein Coming Back to SoCal

"He's baaaaack" (Don't call him "Norm".)

Norman Finkelstein, the "independent scholar with a PhD from Princeton" (as the UC Irvine Muslim Student Union advertises him) will be back in LA and Orange Counties this month. pimping his latest "book' and making a few bucks by giving his stump speech on how evil Israel is.

Dr. Norman Finkelstein to speak in Southern California April 23rd and April 25th

Dr. Norman Finkelstein, author of The Holocaust Industry and most recently "Knowing Too Much": Why the American Jewish Romance With Israel is Coming to an End, will speak in Orange County, Cerritos and Westwood on "Israel, Palestine and the Future of Peace.
In his new book, "Knowing Too Much", Finkelstein says that Jewish Americans are traditionally liberal in their political outlook, but over the past half century their support for Israel has stood in sharp contrast to their generally progressive stance. Finkelstein says this is changing.

"Knowing Too Much" explains that despite Israel's record of militarism, illegal settlements, and human rights violations, American Jews have largely remained steadfast supporters of the Jewish "homeland."  But, as he explains in an elegantly-argued and richly-textured new book, this is now beginning to change. Finkelstein's arguments are bolstered by the fundamental illiberalism of the Israeli state as documented in reports by Human Rights Watch, Amnesty International and the United Nations, in books by commentators as prominent as President Jimmy Carter and as well-respected in the scholarly community as Stephen Walt, John Mearsheimer and Peter Beinart.  In the light of these exposés, the support of Jewish Americas for Israel has begun to fray.  This erosion has been particularly marked among younger members of the community.  A 2010 Brandeis University poll found that only about one quarter of Jews aged under 40 today feel "very much" connected to Israel.

Setting aside the implication that Cerritos College and Chapman University are putting their imprimatur on this academic fraud (He was terminated by DePaul University because his scholarship was found to be bogus) and his message, it should be pointed out that the Levantine Cultural Center in LA is the same virulently anti-Israel bunch that put on a full-day seminar at UCI back in January 2009 that featured Finkelstein and other so-called academics whose lives are devoted to destroying the Jewish state. I was present at that event and sent a written question up to the dais that was 'answered" by Finkelstein.

“Do you condemn statements and chants heard recently at anti-Israel rallies in Ft. Lauderdale and Los Angeles such as ‘Go back to the ovens,’ ‘You need a bigger oven,’ ‘Long live Hitler,’ ‘Go Hitler,’ and ‘Go Nazi Germany’? Secondly, don’t you think these statements discredit your cause?”

Finkelstein responded, “First of all, it’s not my cause.” He disclaimed any knowledge of the statements, but said that he suspected they were “99% made up…a pretext or excuse to change the subject” and that the perpetrators might have been “pro-Israel provocateurs masquerading as Arabs.” He never condemned the statements and his dismissive and conspiratorial response caused the audience to erupt in applause.

I also note the sponsorship of radio station KPFQ in Los Angeles. To say this station is communist is an understatement of classic proportions.

"Finkelstein is basically optimistic, even in a region that for decades has been stuck in a gridlock of injustice and suffering.  He predicts significant change in the political environment in the United States as growing numbers of Jewish Americans come to recognize Israel's record as simply indefensible."

Are you kidding me? With all that is going on in the Middle East, it is clear that Israel is surrounded by nothing but hate, violence, and insanity.

Norman Finkelstein is a misfit who only draws laughter from anyone with half a brain. He is reduced to making his living writing cheap books that pose as academic works and making his pro-Palestinian speeches around the globe. All it takes is to look at the groups that invite him to speak to realize what a joke he is.

Hey! Wasn't he the same guy who "Spirit in the sky" back in the 60s or 70s?

  1. A lot of nuts have gone beyond what Finkelstein promotes. He is now an outcast to the BDS movement people because he recognizes that the BDS movement calls for the end of Israel. And he doesn't think that is politically feasible.

  2. Finkelstein is an outcast to 90% of polite society. I have heard him speak often. He is a crackpot.

  3. To call either Finkelstein or KPFQ "communist" is so far out of the ballpark it doesn't even qualify as an exaggeration.

    Lenin endorsed the Balfour Declaration.

Stalin cast all three of the USSR's votes in the UN for partition.

    Israel was founded by socialists.

OF course none of the above recognize that, and neither does Gary Fouse.

  4. I did not call Der Fink a communist. I called KPFQ communist. I'll stand by that.
