This is no movie. Judge Harold Haley moments before his head was blown off in 1970.
Great! Just what we need. Hollywood is producing a movie glorifying Angela Davis. Daniel Greenfield has written his comments in Frontpage Magazine

Since I am of the same generation as Davis, and she is a professor at UC Santa Cruz (America's Wackiest University) teaching something called "History of Consciousness", I might as well weigh in on this-as if I didn't have enough enemies in the UC system.
After the courthouse killings, Davis fled and was a fugitive from justice for a couple of months She was eventually captured in New York and returned to California to stand trial. I recall her explanation for fleeing was that she didn't trust the American justice system to give her a fair trial. Well, she got a fair trial and was acquitted. Therefore, she was wrong on that point.

Legally, speaking, Davis is entitled to be considered innocent of the charge till the day she dies. As for public opinion, people are free to hold their own opinions. America has evolved a great deal in the decades since that event. I have no idea how much Davis has evolved, if at all. I would be curious to hear what she has to say to her students in her classes. If her message is the same as what she was espousing in her days at UCLA, then I would venture that she has not kept up with the times. To me she would be just another left-wing university professor who has nothing but contempt for her own country and is passing that contempt on to her students.
As for the movie itself, I doubt I have the stomach to go and see it-let along pay money to do so.
She like her "friends" will be judged by the strictest judge in the universe. From that court there will be no appeal.
ReplyDeleteUntil then let her go on. This movie, like the one about the Weathermen, will flop. Hollywood can only take a certain amount of flops before they change the subject.
Angela Davis is much too comfortable to be a "terrorist." I bet she doesn't even own a gun anymore.
ReplyDeleteAnd she's not much of a communist either. What's she done for the revolution lately?
Well, I haven't seen any dead judges lately. Maybe she is afraid people will laugh at her if she calls herself a communist.
ReplyDeleteJudge Haley was a hostage. He was killed when police launched a premature frontal attack on an amateurish operation. Professionals would have known not to be so quick on the trigger. It is not known that Davis had anything to do with the operation.
ReplyDeleteIn general, killing judges is not a particularly helpful tactic for communism. It doesn't inspire intelligent, skilled, dedicated people to apply for party membership.
Angela Davis studied Marxism under Marcuse. That alone should tell you that she's a dilattente, not a professional revolutionary.
So it was all the cops' fault.
