One of the more hysterical reactions to the Boston bombing was from NY Times writer Nicholas Kristof that the Republicans refusal to quickly confirm President Obama's ATF nominee was a cause of the attack.

I don't think B Todd Jones would have prevented the Boston bombing had he been in place as ATF director, Mr Kristof.
