In contrast, immigration in America has been much more successful because we believed in the "melting pot" principle. Europe did not, and now they are paying the price because it is too late. This is a lesson for us in America. We are in the process of abandoning the melting pot for some vast, multi-cultural salad bowl that preaches that Western civilization is imperialistic, racist, and not worth maintaining.

This should not be a question of race or skin color. I have visited France enough times to know that they have many people of African origin who have become educated and assimilated. Ever heard of Yannick Noah and Tony Parker? What about all the Southeast Asian immigrants who came from former colonies like Viet Nam? No, it has to do with other factors such as education, skills, and values. Immigrants do bring certain values that are praise-worthy, such as work ethic and family values, but as for those who have no desire to be productive, contribute, and respect the traditions and  values of their adopted country, then it makes no sense to bring them in.
