"Who forgets is doomed to repeat"
This coming Sunday, Jews and Christians in Antwerp, Belgium will mark their annual observance of the Holocaust by marching from the Central Train Station to the monument to the victims of Holocaust. The below article is in Dutch. I will translate the main parts.

"Next Sunday, 11 November 2012, there will be the annual commemoration march for the Antwerp victims of the Holocaust under the motto, "Who forgets is doomed to repeat". The march is an initiative of Saint Egidio.
The remembrance of the Holocaust is determined to building a city and a Europe where no form of racism has a place. Old and young, old and new Antwerpers, and people from all beliefs are welcome to take part in this collective commemoration.
The silent march departs 17 hrs from the Central Station and proceeds to the monument to the deported on the Belgielei, where a short ceremony will take place. Speakers for this year are Rabbi David Rosen, Bishop Leon Lemmens and Gledis Shabani, a student. The end (of the event) is around 18:30 hrs.
Prior to the march, Rabbi David Rosen from Israel will hold a conference over the dialogue between Christians and Jews 50 years after the Second Vatican Council that signified a break with the traditional Catholic thinking on Judaism."

I applaud this greatly. However, isn't something missing here?

ReplyDeleteYeah, People!!!
The population of Antwerp is just above 500,000 and the population of Belgium is just about 11 million.
And only about 20 or so people showed up.
just another gay parade, hey march like beleaguered minorities in their own country, they're already dead they just don't know it yet.
ReplyDeleteAnonymous,
ReplyDeleteI am deleted your comment because racial epithets are not welcome here.

I did not use the N-Word Gary.
ReplyDeleteThere are multiple "Anonymous" on this blog.
I will start using the handle "ANONYMOUS 007"
Anonymous 007. Good idea. That was another anonymous. Of course when I comment on other blogs, I know how to avoid that problem altogether.
