Mayor Michael Bloomberg is catching heat over his decision to go ahead with the New York City Marathon-especially from people in Staten Island, where the staging area is located. As of this morning, the borough is devastated, stranded, and without much assistance.

Anger and Complaints about assistance are rising. As we learned in Katrina, blame can be pointed at the federal, state and local levels. Of course, it was convenient to blame FEMA during Katrina because George W Bush was president even though the governor of Louisiana and the mayor of New Orleans failed miserably.
I am in no position to judge what Governor Andrew Cuomo has done or not done in the case of Sandy, but this is a slap in the face of the residents of Staten Island on the part of Bloomberg.
And no, I'm not going to blame this on President Obama. He is far removed from Staten island-in Ohio as a matter of fact.
Obama jogging in Springfield, Ohio today
Update: Bloomberg must have read this because he has just cancelled the marathon.
Catching heat is not the word. Mayor Big Gulp is an idiot to put it mildly. Resources sent to help the people of NYC is being used to do the marathon. Staten Island is dying, but idiot runners are going to throw people out of hotel rooms, stealing emergency food and if they run they are the worse scum of the universe.
ReplyDeleteAngry? Not only are they angry but they are pissed beyond belief.
