The Threat in Benghazi Prior to 9-11: The Documents

Two Republican members of  the House Oversight Committee have released internal State Department documents that clearly show Ambassador Chris Stevens and others had kept the Department updated on the dangerous and deteriorating situation in Eastern Libya leading up to the attack on September 11.

These documents raise the obvious questions: Why did DOS deny additional security to the mission in Libya? Secondly, was this issue never brought to the attention of the President during his daily intelligence briefings-you know, the ones he regularly skipped until it was made public knowledge?

This, of course, can and should be part of the Monday debate.  There is no excuse for this either for the Secretary of State or the President. It is dereliction of duty that led to 4 American deaths.
