The Last Debate

I guess Mitt Romney didn't listen to my advice. In fact, Libya was hardly mentioned after the first question, and Romney apparently decided not to attack the President on this point. I was quite disappointed. I thought Obama was on his game tonight and Romney held his own but did not get Obama onto the defensive.

The talking heads are divided on this, but I thought Obama was more impressive. Romney succeeded in looking like he belonged on the same stage with Obama and did nothing to hurt his position. I just thought Obama had so many weaknesses on the Middle East issues, and I was disappointed that Libya was downplayed and Obama not put on the defense.

  1. My opinion regarding who won the debate is that Romney came out ahead. Maybe not on points but he did it with style, comportment and the image that women would want to see in a President. Hemingway may have expressed it well, when he stated: “Courage is grace under pressure.” Romney put forth grace under pressure, where Obama let his bully come out, once again. Romney needs the woman’s vote and I feel that he may have gained some points with his Presidential presence this evening. With that said, Romney was a success this evening.
As Alexander Dumas said: “Nothing succeeds like success.”

  2. Gary is probably right. I didn't watch, because I don't expect anyone to say anything of substance in a presidential debate. Its just not done.

For the record, I told my dentist yesterday, I'm reasonably confident President Obama is telling the truth better than 50 percent of the time, and I am absolutely certain Mitt Romney is lying 100 percent of the time. (Or maybe not lying... Romney is atruthful rather than nontruthful... he'll say anything that seems convenient without any regard for whether it is true).

  3. Siarlys,

I also went to the dentist yesterday. What a coincidence. probably not the same one. Mine doesn't use laughing gas.

  4. Once when I was getting deep root planing, a dentist used laughing gas. It didn't make me laugh, but when I felt that I was no longer in control of my arms and legs, I firmly told him to turn it off. Even without it, no significant pain. That was in California. Can't recall his name any more. Never again. Current dentist is in Milwaukee. I think he voted for Scott Walker in the recall. But he's a good dentist.
