As anti-US riots spread across the Middle East-still using that film as an excuse, the reactions closer to home leave me shaking my head.
Apparently, President Obama and the State Department cannot agree on whether or not Egypt is an ally.
Answer for Obama and State: Egypt is not an ally.
Last night, I watched the 11 o'clock news from LA before turning out the lights in disgust. All three major channels were camped out in front of some guy's house who they said was the producer of the now-notorious video. This morning, the local NBC affiliate reported,
"Reporters who had climbed onto the roof of a neighbor's house could only see a vacant back yard."
They were all wringing their hands over the harm the video had caused-even though informed people know that it was the anniversary of 9-11 that led to the planned mayhem with the movie used as an excuse. Yet these politically-correct clam brains persist with the myth that the movie was the cause.
And with apologies to my wife and Catholics everywhere, the Vatican and, in particular, a certain bishop in Tripoli have to take the cake with this reaction as the Pope travels to Lebanon.
"From Libya, Bishop Giovanni Martinelli, the apostolic vicar of Tripoli, told Vatican Insiderthat Western countries should have the “courage” to ban “all blasphemous projects” and establish “a policy that is respectful of religion.”
Not a word about what happened in Benghazi to our officials. Not a word about the persecution of religious minorities in countries like Egypt. It's all about that darned film.
And who are the bad guys according to the mad-hatters at MSNBC? Mitt Romney and Bibi Netanyahu.
And just wait until the universities get back from their summer break. Then we will see more calls to boycott Israel from the assorted Muslim Student Associations and Students for Justice in Palestine.
What a pushover the West has become.
