Obama's Embarrassing Event in Las Vegas

On Wednesday, in spite of the tragedy of 9-11-12, President Obama, rather than attend an intelligence briefing at the White House, chose to jump on Air Force One and go to Las Vegas for a campaign event. There, he spoke before a raucus group of his campaign supporters. In spite of the somber occasion, the crowd was chanting, "4 more years" and "We love you" as Obama took the podium. Some were screaming even as the president opened by referring to the 4 dead Americans in Libya.

Were they even aware of what had transpired in Libya? If so, they were not acting like it.

Obama worsened the scene by comparing his audience to the 4 dead Americans. Below is a report from the Daily Mail (UK).

“And obviously [our] hearts are broken for the families but I wanted to encourage those folks at the State Dept. that they were making a difference,” Obama told volunteer leaders in Las Vegas, according to the pool report. “The sacrifices that our troops and our diplomats make are obviously very different from the challenges that we face here domestically but like them, you guys are Americans who sense that we can do better than we’re doing….I’m just really proud of you.”

And they claim that Mitt Romney is "out of touch".

  1. Sounds to me like President Obama handled that just right.

And Romney's first statement on the subject (prepared by his neocon staff) has inspired more blowback from conservatives than liberals, since it boiled down to "This is a tragedy, and I just want to take the occasion of this tragedy to say, its all my opponent's fault, and it wouldn't have happened on my watch, so vote for me."

But Gary is voting for Romney, so all he can say is "There must be something wrong with anything Obama said anywhere." How trite.

  2. The crowd at the Obama event are the useful idiots who think that he still walks on water. The fact is, Nevada has one of the highest unemployment numbers and more homes are forclosure in that state than any other. I took a vacation last year in Las Vegas and toured the surrounding area. I saw brand new homes, unsold, going for half the original asking price. Somehow, I could not figure out how those Nevada folks could cheer Obama. But then, I realized that these useful idiots also voted for Sen. Reid.

  3. Rather than walking on water, is there any truth to the rumor that Obama instead passes water in emergencies?? Just asking.

  4. Obama's remarks were very much in keeping with the work of Ambassador Stevens:

Yes, Squid, a majority of voters in Nevada reluctantly voted for Reid because the alternative was Gary's Angel, Sharon. Thank you Tea Party Express for sustaining a Democratic majority in the senate.

Romney's staff is beginning to panic as they realize that a majority of Americans prefer Obama to Romney at least as much as a majority of Nevadans preferred Reid to Angle.

  5. My Angel, Sharon? Whatever gave you that idea?

  6. Your own laudatory posts about Sharon Angle Gary.

OK, so I flipped two letters. It had a nice effect that way.

  7. Siarlys,

Can you show me those posts? I may have said I hope she wins, but that would be about it. She never impressed me.

  8. The headline I recall was "How About Them Tea Party Candidates?" Angle was one of those you were pumping for.

In retrospect, I'm sure you find her less than impressive. In November, you will begin to realize how unimpressive Romney is also.
