Fast and Furious: The Preliminary Report

Fox News has obtained what is at least a partial preliminary report of the Dept. of Justice IG's report on Operation Fast and Furious. It is unclear how far the report goes, but aside from blaming ATF and three Phoenix-based agents, it also assigns blame to "senior officials" in ATF and DOJ.

And here is the quote of the year from Eric Holder:

"Attorney General Eric Holder has said the report, which will be scrutinized on Capitol Hill, will provide him the basis to discipline or fire those found most culpable."

Most culpable

You talk about throwing your own subordinates under the bus. Holder should fire himself. Yet, he persists in his defense that he knew nothing about Fast and Furious, and it was done by some rogue agents in Phoenix. This man has no shame. He is a scoundrel.

I am not defending the three ATF agents in Phoenix who followed orders and carried out Fast and Furious. I have much more regard for the agent-whistle blowers who knew the operation was wrong and tried to resist it. But to throw these three agents under the bus and cover up for the ones in Washington at DOJ and the White House who knew all about it and were pushing it is beyond unconscionable.

The Department of Justice (which I served for over 20 years in pride) has been taken over by a bunch of political criminals in much the same mold as the John Mitchell Justice Department under Nixon but much worse.

By the way, if you are thinking the IG can now release those 80,000+ documents subpoenaed by Congress, think again. They are still being withheld under Executive Privilege by the White House.
