Hat tip Daily Caller
According to Rep. Ben Quayle (R-AZ), the answer is yes. It pertains to Holder's assertion during his testimony that the wiretap applications raised no red flags to DOJ officials.

“We reviewed the wiretap affidavits in both Operation Wide Receiver and Operation Fast and Furious and concluded that the affidavits in both cases included information that would have caused a prosecutor who was focused on the question of investigative tactics, particularly one who was already sensitive to the issue of ‘gun walking,’ to have questions about ATF’s conduct of the investigations,” the inspector general wrote in its report released Wednesday."
As far as I am concerned, Holder committed perjury every time he testified about Fast and Furious. It may be hard to make a perjury case on this one point, but Holder is up to his ears in this scandal. The IG report is hardly the end of this story.
Is it not about time for a special prosecutor or independent counsel or whatever it is they are called these days?? Seems like an opportune time to me, since that would obviously be better than an agency's own IG.
ReplyDeleteSince posting the above, and in support of my position on the indpendent counsel (or whatever), I caught some of the hearing of the House ethics committee relative to Rep. Maxine Waters.
ReplyDeleteIt may still be too early to tell for sure, but it kinda looks to me like Maxine is going to skate and that her chief of staff/grandson is going to suck all the heat.
I cannot for the life of me figure how the committee came up with Billy Martin as its "investigator" or whatever he is, unless there is (excuse me) a whitewash to come. Just thinking.
Of course it was a whitewash. Billy Martin was the investigator? Waters interceded with Barney Frank to get her husbands bank included in the bailout to the tune of 12 million. They didn't even investiagte Barney.
ReplyDeleteGary--I called him an "investigator", I don't know what his actual title was/is,
ReplyDeleteC-SPAN said that he was "hired" by the committee. Does the ethics committee have a Republican majority as do the others, or is that one with equal party representation?? I forget.
Ol' Maxine and her husband are both obviously as crooked as snakes, but I believe this is going nowhere fast.
put your money on the latter.
